4th Annual PTSA Black History Month
Art Contest rules

In celebration of Black History Month, the Berkeley High School Parent Teacher Student Association is hosting the following contests to showcase Black history-themed student creative works in poetry, visual arts, digital art, music, and performance art. 

 

All current Berkeley High and Independent Study students are eligible to participate. 

 

Winners and Honorable Mentions will be posted on the student section of the PTSA website in the following categories:

 

  1. Poetry—can be any length, accompanying image is optional (jpg or png files only, under 2 MB)

  2. Photography & Digital Art—single image (jpg or png files only, under 2 MB), multiple images, animation, etc.—max number of photos is 10, max length of video is 1 minute, (file formats and maximum size TBD—check back in for further specifications)

  3. Visual Art—hand-crafted drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, etc. (jpg or png files only, under 2 MB)

  4. Music—an accompanying image is optional - max recording length of 3 minutes (link to song on web, if you send an image, jpg or png files only, under 2 MB)

  5. Performance Art—dance, music, spoken word, monologues, ect. - max video length of 3 minutes (YouTube or Vimeo link or a video file to upload)

 

All entries must have a title for judging purposes.

 

All submissions must be received by February 27th, by midnight via this google form. Please make sure you are signed into your berkeley.net account.

Students can only submit one entry per category.

 

Students can submit entries in multiple categories but can only win in one category.

 

Music & Performance Art entries created by multiple students must be submitted in one student’s name. 

 

The use of profanity, racial slurs, and sexual content may eliminate submissions from the contest. The PTSA student executive team will make this determination according to the guidelines used by Berkeley High teachers of these subjects.

Prizes in each category are $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third.

 

Voting details will be forthcoming.

 

Winning artwork will remain on the PTSA website for the rest of the school year.
